New Hospital Garden

We are proud to unveil the new garden site for residents of the Heartwood Program for Women at the BC Children’s and Women’s Hospital.  EYA has been working with Heartwood, a program for women on the road to recovery from substance abuse, for years offering therapeutic horticulture sessions on their patio and indoor garden. This upgrade to an outdoor garden is a place to grow herbs, veggies and flowers used in snacks and meal programs. It’s also an opportunity for the women to get fresh air, get their hands dirty, and enjoy all the benefits that come with being outdoors.

“It will provide a place of contemplation for the women during the week as well. The combination of edibles and florals will allow the women to cultivate greens for our cooking group and they will be so proud of this!” – Executive Director, at Heartwood.

Special thanks to the Provincial Health Services Authority for their support, and Serenity Landscaping. We couldn’t do it without you!
