Thank you to everyone who joined us at our Annual General Meeting last week, and to our community for helping us make a meaningful impact in 2025! Our hearts are full as over 30 community members joined us to celebrate our successes and impact from last year.

This year’s AGM was also an opportunity to reflect on and celebrate 35 years since EYA’s incorporation and 4 years of stewarding the wetland. If you have any EYA stories or photos you would like to send in, we invite you to submit them through this form.

We’re thrilled to officially share with you our Annual Impact Report, where you can read about what we accomplished in 2025.

In the midst of ongoing global conflict and uncertainty, this year challenged us as leaders to respond with action and resiliency, planting seeds of opportunity to support fellow youth from equity-denied communities and creating ripples of change that echo through our neighbourhoods. 2025 was a year of transformation, presenting more opportunities to continue learning and growing as youth stewards of the lands, spaces, and communities we care for by taking action to deconstruct the systems that harm us.

“I felt a sense of collective healing during the program, which I thought was very unique to the environmental sector. Definitely a worthwhile experience!” – Peer Mentor youth

Some other highlights include:

  • 301 youth empowered from equity-denied communities.
  • 8 youth employed through our Youth Habitat Crew summer job program.
  • 564 children and youth participated in field trips with their school.
  • 4,417 native plants were grown by youth.
  • 44 schools and community groups received youth-grown native plants.
  • 709 youth-grown native plants were gifted to Host Nations in 2025.

We’re excited to see what this coming year has to offer and the impact our team and youth participants will have with the support of local partners.
