Peer Mentors

In this volunteer program, you’ll develop skills in youth work and land-based education through training, mentorship, and hands-on experience helping to deliver our Nature Stewards programs alongside EYA staff.

    Strathcona Community Gardens (759 Malkin Ave), EYA Office (1245 Glen Dr), and Renfrew Ravine (3998 Renfrew St)

    Program Dates
    June 7th - August 19th

    This program consists of two parts:

    • Skill-Building Workshops: Training weekend June 7th & 8th, then a mix of online and in person weekly Tuesday evening (5:00 - 7:30 pm) sessions starting June 17, June 24, skip July 1, July 8, July 15, July 22, July 29, Aug 5, Aug 12, Aug 19) 
    • Peer Mentoring: Weekly program support, 1 day/week from 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Days vary according to the program you are supporting. Learn more about the programs.

    Eligibility
    Youth ages 18-25 who identify as Indigenous, Black, People of Colour, 2SLGBTQIA+, living with a disability, or targeted by other forms of systemic oppression.

    Supports
    Bus tickets, lunch on peer mentoring days, and snacks on skill-building workshop days are provided.

    A living stipend is provided.

Sayan Ladhani

Sayan is a second-generation East Indian and British with parents from England and Uganda. She was born and raised on the traditional lands of the Attawandaron, Ho-de-no-sau-nee-ga (Haudenosaunee) and ᐊᓂᔑᓈᐯᐗᑭ (Anishinabewaki) peoples and the Treaty lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation in Guelph, Ontario. An avid nature lover, Sayan has a degree in Environmental Sciences and a passion for outdoor education and advocacy. She moved to BC in 2023 with her partner to spend more time exploring the great outdoors and can now be found gratefully living on unceded xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ilwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) territory. When not working, Sayan can be found camping, trying out new recipes and in the sun with a good book.
