Each year, Nature Stewards empowers over 200 youth from equity-deserving communities ages 14-18 to be environmental stewards by providing free multi-week land-based education programs.

Each program engages a small group of ten youth participants in weekly 4-hour sessions centred on three themes: Native plant horticulture, habitat restoration, and Indigenous food and medicine.

Hands-on activities braid Western ecology and Indigenous teachings and include growing thousands of native plants, restoring wildlife habitat, making medicinal teas and salves, and helping create Vancouver’s newest wetland in Strathcona Community Gardens.
