Register for our NEW Youth Garden Project Today!
Environmental Youth Alliance and Red Fox Healthy Living Society have teamed up to bring like-minded youth ages of 15 to 18 together for a unique volunteer experience between March 2019 and March 2020.
Over the next year, we will be working with 3 groups of 14 youth, engaging 42 youth in total. Each program group will be 3 months long.
The Garden Project will provide hands-on experiences creating wildlife habitat and an Indigenous foodscape garden in Strathcona Park. Youth will volunteer as Youth Leaders at Red Fox Active Play, Feasting and Drum Group programs, helping local children be active, enjoy healthy meals and connect with Indigenous cultures. In the end, participants will earn a certificate of completion for their 120 Community Service Hours over the 3-month period.
Youth will design a permanent Art Installation for the Garden, connect with knowledge keepers and Elders, and learn about decolonization. Each of the 3 groups will begin and end with an over-night urban camping orientation weekend and wilderness camping weekend.
We are excited to announce that our 3 groups will run from:
Group 1: March 31 – June 30, 2019
(Registration closes March 30th, 2019)
Group 2: July 6 – September 29, 2019
Group 3: October 6 – January 12, 2020
