Wildlife Habitat Stewardship

Wildlife Habitat Stewardship Program

In 2018, EYA will provide a free Wildlife Habitat Stewardship Youth Program at our outdoor learning space in Strathcona Community Gardens in partnership with the VSB’s Cedar Walk alternate school program for Aboriginal youth. Engaging in hands-on activities, youth will learn to create and maintain pollinator habitat, including designing & planting a new wildlife-friendly native plant demonstration garden, removing invasive plants, and building and caring for wildlife habitat boxes. Through the program, youth will have an opportunity to connect with nature in their own neighbourhoods, grow ecological leadership skills, and participate in helping wildlife live and thrive in our city.
