JOIN THE ROOTS & SHOOTS INTERNSHIP PROGRAM!
Are you interested in an environmental career? Join EYA’s Roots & Shoots Internship Program! We’re looking for five youth to join this fully-paid environmental job skills program which includes:
10-weeks of land-based job training (February 16-April 24): Spend 10 weeks developing your environmental job skills through hands-on land stewardship in east Vancouver. You’ll gain skills in native plant horticulture and ecological restoration, explore environmental education and group facilitation, and learn about medicinal plant use from Indigenous Elders and Knowledge Keepers. You’ll also develop skills in digital literacy, communication, and project management.
12-week environmental work placement (April 26 – July 16): EYA staff will help you find a well-suited work placement in the environmental field that aligns with your values and career goals. You’ll receive one-on-one support throughout the work placement and help finding a job or returning to school after the placement. This program is full-time and will run Tuesday – Saturday, 10AM – 4PM from February 16 – July 16. Participants must be available for entirety of program.
This program is open to all youth ages 18 – 25 who identify as BIPOC, LGBTQ2, or living with a disability.
Participants will be paid $14.60 / hour
Lunch and bus passes provided
Strathcona Community Gardens (759 Malkin Ave) and Renfrew Ravine (3998 Renfrew St).
Due to Covid-19, activities will be a combination of online and in-person and will adhere to guidelines and regulations of the BC Health Authority.
