“Climate change is happening right now. This program helps me take action.”

That’s Sonya, a youth participant reflecting on being part of EYA’s land-based education programs.

“I got to meet experts in the field of environmental protection, gained new knowledge in nature restoration and feel inspired to pursue a career in the environmental sciences.”

There’s never been a more critical time to help open the doors for equity-deserving youth pursuing land-based livelihoods that care for the earth.

Equity-deserving communities are often on the frontlines of the climate crisis. Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside has the least greenspace per capita, making residents far more vulnerable to extreme weather like heat domes or atmospheric rivers.

Despite this, equity-deserving communities remain underrepresented in the sector.

Members of our summer jobs program, the Youth Habitat Crew.

Our hands-on programs aim to address this gap by providing opportunities for youth to develop environmental job skills through paid employment training and work placements.

Donate today to help us raise $20,000 and help create a pathway for equity-seeking youth to bring their knowledge to the environmental movement – at a time when our planet needs it the most?

Your gift could support our programs in one of the following ways:

  • Paying youth an honoraria to attend our programs, reducing barriers to participation
  • Bringing in Indigenous Elders and Knowledge Keepers to share teachings on land stewardship
  • Hourly wages for youth participating in our employment training programs

Thank you for helping build a more inclusive environmental sector and making us part of your year-end giving!
