Wild Mind

Wild Mind is a weekend and summer program providing 75 inner city youth ages 15-25 with educational nature experiences in urban spaces. Each year, we deliver 5 free eight-week programs on three urban biodiversity themes: indigenous plants, pollinators, and wildlife habitat. Each program is open to 15 youth and consists of weekly 4-hour outdoor sessions with one-on-one instructor support and hands-on activities on growing native plants, surveying pollinator abundance and diversity, managing organic honeybee hives, planting wildlife gardens, and enhancing wildlife habitat.Wild Mind takes place at Strathcona Community Gardens, a green oasis in the Downtown Eastside with an off-grid ecohouse, beehives, plant nursery, pollinator meadow, and wildlife habitat area.
